Intro

The online Three-year Degree Course in Educational Sciences is aimed at acquiring fundamental knowledge and methodologicalskills concerning pedagogical andmethodological-didactic knowledge, alongwith basic knowledge and skills, appropriatelywell-structured and divided into philosophical,psychological, sociological, andanthropological fields, focused on a generalunderstanding of educational issues, under thetheoretical and methodological points of view.

The methodological competences related tothe analysis of the educative experiences caught under the various social, geographical-territorial, cultural and psychological profiles are important The theoretical and methodological competences related to the educational and formative intervention also appear relevant, including the teaching/learning dimension, in the different evolutionary phases of the individual,appropriately integrated by abilities to solve educational and training problems specific to the different socio-educational services and tothe different subjects, also in relation to the integration of the disabled.

Educational Objectives

The Course in Educational Sciences aims to provide knowledge and develop skills and competences in the fundamental fields of study and educational research, in both theoretical and applicative perspective, with a largely interdisciplinary approach. The degree course is divided into a three-year curriculum centred on methodological and general objectives in the sciences of education, also oriented to the teaching of human sciences in secondary education.

The specific competencies provided by this course will be ensured by using various evaluation methods, that are adequate to the knowledge and skills to be certified, including the transversal competences that are an integral part of the outgoing profile. Internships are foreseen, also with stays abroad for contact with the territory and with work contexts in which educational/training professional skills are required, to be put into practice under the guidance of tutors who check their operational mastery.

The three-year course is aimed at acquiring educational knowledge and skills in Educational Sciences that enable to analyse educational issues and management of the sector, along with teachings focused on historical grounds of basic disciplines, as well as on crucial and remarkable issues of diverse investigation sectors that constitute them; particular attention is given to the contextualization of educational phenomena, by giving priority to the reflection on the diversity and specificity of the processes, the protagonists and the training demand, also in a design and operational sense; furthermore, the student, following this curriculum, has the opportunity to acquire the necessary credits to access the specialization for upper secondary education in Human Sciences.

Career Opportunities

Graduates, in addition to having acquired the necessary credits for access to the specialization for teaching philosophy, education sciences, psychology and history in secondary schools, will be able to find employment in professional sectors where there are skills in the field educational and intervention in support of training processes, with particular reference to institutions, bodies and cooperatives operating in a network with the school in targeted educational projects; the skills acquired can also be used in teaching and educational dissemination and communication, in the industry that operates in the production of educational tools, and in library services.

Graduates will be able to carry out activities of operators in cultural services, in school and educational structures, in other territorial activities connected also to the third sector. They can also work as teachers, trainers, instructors or tutors in companies, services, schools, training centers and public administrations. In particular, the areas and professional themes typical of graduates are the following:

  • the school system and educational institutions for consulting and planning specific updating activities for teachers and for orientation activities;
  • mentoring and orientation in the educational, training, extracurricular and teaching fields, with knowledge in the disciplinary fields of the human sciences and with appropriate methodological-didactic skills and competences;
  • Local Authorities, cultural enterprises of a public and private nature, educational services in the territory differentiated by subjects, age and needs;
  • policies, planning and animation of the socio-cultural activities of the territory; intercultural training, the management of intercultural relations, intercultural mediation in the context of local services for the reception and integration of immigrants, etc.

Knowledge and skills required for enrolment

For the enrolment in the Degree Course in Science of Education and Training, a secondary school diploma or other qualification, even if obtained abroad, is required as long as it is recognized as valid according to current legislation.
