Instructions for the admission of foreign students to Degree Courses
The following instructions describe the procedures for the admission of foreign students to the Degree Courses at Università Telematica Pegaso, in compliance with the Italian provisions of the MIUR, concerning the admission of foreign students to the Degree Courses, and in line with the indications on the processes of closer alignment of study paths and professions in the context of the EQF, European Qualification Framework (available on the specific website of the European Commission: (https://ec.europa.eu/eqf/documentation_en.htm)
The Evaluation Commission for the Degree Courses of the Università Telematica Pegaso will be responsible of evaluating the individual applications for the admission. The evaluation procedure of foreign secondary school leaving qualifications for the access in first cycle study courses does not convert the foreign secondary school qualification into an Italian one, but allows the access in first cycle study courses, provided that the foreign qualification has all the following features:
- Final official secondary school title issued by the foreign reference system;
- Qualification which allows the access into first cycle study courses of that nature (e.g. academic) in compliance with the foreign system of reference;
- Qualification awarded after at least 12 years of schooling;
- It may be also required for the Italian courses to take a final test or examination in order to access the higher education, if already foreseen for the admission to the courses in the country of origin, The evaluation procedure of the foreign first and second study cycle degrees for the admission to second (e.g. Master's Degree) and third cycle courses (e.g. Ph.D.), respectively, does not change the foreign title into an Italian title, but allows the access into second or third cycle courses if the foreign qualification has all the following features:
- first or second cycle official qualifications according to the foreign reference system, issued by an official institution recognized by the foreign system;
- qualifications which allow the access into related second or third cycle courses, according to the foreign system of reference;
- qualifications presenting the modules of a discipline corresponding to those of the Italian qualification required for the admission (i.g. academic nature or research elements).
QUALIFICATIONS ACHIEVED AT THE END OF AT LEAST 12 YEARS OF SCHOOLING
Such qualifications are valid for the access to three- year Degree Courses and five-year Master’s Degree courses at Italian universities as long as they foresee the access to a course related to the one required in Italy, at the universities of the country they refer to.
QUALIFICATIONS ACHIEVED AT THE END OF LESS THAN 12 YEARS OF SCHOOLING
In case of qualifications awarded at the end of less than 12 years of schooling, the higher education institutions may request alternatively the following documents, in order to fill the missing schooling years: 1. In case of an eleven-year school system, an academic certification attesting that all exams required in the first year have been successfully taken, that is the academic certification attesting that all the exams have been successfully passed and scheduled for the first two academic years in the case of a ten-year local school system. 2. An official Italian or foreign post-secondary study qualification awarded in a non-university higher school and subject related to the chosen course, lasting respectively one year in the case of a of eleven year- local school system, or two years in the case of a ten- year local school system. 3. Certifications related to any preparatory course (foundation course) successfully passed, that may fill the years of lacking schooling. 4. Certifications in possession of the candidate related to preparatory courses (foundation course) successfully passed, which provide the candidate with the adequate knowledge, skills and abilities in order to attend the chosen course of study within the same Institution.
Required documentation for candidates holding a foreign qualification
EU or non-EU citizens residing in Italy or abroad, holders of an Italian degree or a qualification awarded abroad can submit an application for enrolment in the Degree Courses. For the candidates already holding a foreign qualification, the latter must be evaluated by a Commission that will assess its equivalence to the Italian academic qualifications required for the admission to the Degree Course based on its duration and content. Candidates holding foreign qualifications interested in a Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree or Five year master's degree Courses must therefore submit: 1. Original Copy of the Diploma of secondary education or a substitutive declaration valid for all legal purposes, awarded after at least 12 years of schooling, accompanied by the official translation of the document in the Italian language and the legalization of the same; 2. Declaration of value of the qualification, issued by the Italian Diplomatic Representation operating in the country where the qualification was awarded; 3. For the candidates already holding a qualification awarded at the end of less than 12 years of schooling, please refer to the section QUALIFICATIONS ACHIEVED AT THE END OF LESS THAN 12 YEARS OF SCHOOLING. All the candidates interested in enrolling in a two year Master’s Degree Course must submit: 1. Academic qualification awarded at a University or a post-secondary qualification achieved at a Higher Institute that is not a University but allows, the enrolment in University courses according the regulations in force in the country where the qualification has been awarded, accompanied by the official translation into Italian language and consular legalization of the same; 2. Declaration of value of the qualification, issued by the Italian Diplomatic Representation operating in the country where the qualification was awarded; Diploma Supplement or University certificate attesting the exams successfully passed, as well as the detailed programs and the hours of theoretical-practical didactic activities foreseen for the award of the degree.
The Commission responsible for the assessment of the candidate’s eligibility, may request the latter to demonstrate his/her knowledge of the language(s) in which the national course is delivered. In such case(s), the candidate may certify his/her knowledge by submitting a Language skill certificate, or otherwise it is foreseen an assessment of the candidate’s linguistic skills, also carried out remotely. The assessment of the Knowledge of the Italian language is not required in case the course is delivered entirely in a language different from Italian. In this case, the University may foresee, in line with the University autonomy, the submission of a certificate of the specific language skill.
